A senior trooper with the Oregon State Police conducted a traffic check on March 21 for an equipment violation and failure to yield; a narcotics canine was brought in and discovered almost 30 pounds of drugs in the vehicle.

About 36 pounds of suspected methamphetamines and about 2 pounds of suspected heroin were found after the dog found the smell.
The stop happened in Deschutes County on northbound US-97. The driver and passenger were 38 years old and from Sunnyside, Washington. Their names are Anabel Torres and Audel Torres Perez.
