Four Sisters From Oregon Win $1 Million Lottery Prize

A retired woman from Wood Village and her three sisters are going on a fun trip together after winning the $1 million top prize in the Oregon Lottery’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Raffle.

Carol Serbick bought the winning ticket on March 2, 2023, at Bumpers Grill & Bar in Fairview, about a week before all the tickets were sold.

“I went to the restroom, walked past the bar and said to the bartender, ‘just give me one ticket,’” she said. “Between us sisters, we purchased a total of nine tickets.”

The sisters had already decided to split the prize money before the winning numbers were drawn. Each sister was supposed to buy two, but Serbick bought the ninth ticket on a whim.

Service, the oldest sibling, is playing the Raffle for the first time. She and her three other sisters are all retired and looking forward to a trip together.

The Oregon Lottery wants to remind players always to sign the back of their tickets, no matter their game. If they win the jackpot, they should talk to a trusted financial planner or someone else who can help them figure out what to do with the money.
