A 4.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the Oregon coast, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The quake’s epicenter was about 208 miles west of Coos Bay, along the Blanco Fracture Zone, shortly before 10:50 p.m. It was discovered at a depth of ten kilometers.
While there have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries, residents in the coastal region may have felt the quake, and some shaking may have been handled in nearby areas as well. The USGS has also reported several aftershocks following the initial earthquake. The Blanco Fracture Zone, one of Oregon’s most active faults, saw a swarm of earthquakes in December 2021.
