The defense team for Bryan Kohberger, accused in November of stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho undergraduates, has criticized the “grotesquely twisted” media portrayal of the case.
At around 4 a.m. on Saturday,
after the coeds had come home from a night on the town, Kohberger, a 28-year-old criminology Ph.D. student at nearby University of Idaho killings, is said to have ambushed them in their bedsβthose who were killed at the University of Idaho on November 13.
The case received widespread coverage because investigators dragged their feet for over two months before officially naming a suspect, and the motivation remains unclear.
Anne Taylor, the public defender of Kootenai County, is fighting an AP and other media outlets’ request that the Latah County court releases its gag order on the case.
Taylor’s office attorney Jay Weston Logsdon claimed in court documents made public on Friday that the media group’s efforts are baseless. Given the widespread and grotesquely warped character of media coverage thus far, he said that what the media wants is a procedural victory.

Scary Stuff Found In Idaho Suspect Bryan Kohberger Household
On Thursday, the contents of the search warrant conducted by police when they apprehended Idaho suspect and alleged quadruple murderer Bryan Kohberger in December were made public.
According to the warrant, the police confiscated a Smith & Wesson pocket knife, a Glock 22 pistol, three empty firearms magazines, a black mask, gloves, and a black hat.
A criminal psychology book, a jar of “green leafy substance,” an unknown “prescription,” a mobile phone, a laptop, power cables, clothes, personal notes, and documents (including an AT&T phone bill and a pistol bill of sale) were taken from the premises.
Kohberger’s white 2015 Hyundai Elantra was searched, and the following items were found: a shovel, gloves, and goggles.
