Freezing Rain: The citizens of Oregon are getting ready for a busy week of holiday travel leading up to Christmas this weekend, but the weather calls for ice conditions on Friday, which may make it more difficult to make travel arrangements.
Portland Prediction of Freezing Rain This Holiday
According to the report provided by the forecast department, the weather should remain dry for the majority of the week, with the exception of a chance of rain on Tuesday; however, the temperature is likely to drop significantly on Wednesday and Thursday.

This is in part because of a massive arctic air mass that is expected to drop and deliver severe winter weather to a significant portion of the United States throughout this coming week. According to Hill, most of it will be east of the Rocky Mountains, but Portland will feel the effects of it when the winds from the east kick up and push cold air in through the Gorge.
According to Hill, the winds may drive temperatures down into the 20s on Friday morning. At the same time, precipitation is forecast to come inland from the Pacific, which could lay the stage for hours of freezing rain or sleet and create ice formation on Thursday night and Friday.
