Dead Body: On Friday, December 16, just after 3 o’clock in the afternoon, the Hillsboro Police Department received word that the body of a deceased individual had been discovered in a stream in the area of the Hillsboro High School Campus.

A deceased adult male was discovered in the area by the Hillsboro Police Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, and the Illinois Conservation Police when they attended to the incident.

The Hillsboro Police Department and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, together with the help of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene, are now conducting an investigation into the death.

Joshua L. Ernst, who is 33 years old and from Hillsboro, was identified as the male suspect.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the video footage from the scene is now being reviewed and gathered by the police, and a forensic autopsy is expected to take place on Tuesday.
