Val Hoyle: Val Hoyle, who was just elected to represent her district in the House of Representatives, just got back from Washington, D.C., where she spent the last several days getting ready for her new job.

Peter DeFazio, another Democrat from Oregon, served as Hoyle’s predecessor in Congress for the past 18 terms. She expressed to KLCC that she had a wonderful time during her excursion to the nation’s capital.

“Entering the locations that had been assaulted on January 6.” “Just seeing them reconstructed, and it just…to me, it felt like we are a really resilient country,” she added. “Just seeing them rebuilt.” After that, walking onto the floor of the House was a very empowering experience.

Hoyle stated that she is ready to begin her new post as Representative for the 4th Congressional District and that she feels privileged to do so. She is also beginning her term under new leadership in the House, which she describes as an exciting time for both herself and her fellow representatives.
“I would have liked the opportunity to serve in a leadership role with Nancy Pelosi, but the shift to Hakeem Jeffries was necessary. Jeffries is a youth leader and just someone who I believe can provide a fresh viewpoint as a Black man and person of color. Additionally, he is going to be an outstanding leader.

Pelosi received praise from Hoyle for her ability to move legislation along and remain steadfast in the face of the fading “Red Wave” that Republicans thought would carry them to victory in the midterm elections in 2022.
