Purchasing a Firearm: The implementation of Oregon Measure 114 is scheduled to take place on December 8th, and as a result, numerous inquiries have been raised concerning the purchase of firearms within the state of Oregon. Beginning the following Friday, all purchases of weapons inside the state are required to hold the appropriate licensing as of the current status quo (assuming that a stay is not issued in court).
According to Sheriff Mckinley, Purchasing a Firearm in Oregon Could Take Months
The sheriff of Grantย County, Todd McKinley, stated that there is currently no mechanism in place to grant those licenses, thus it’s possible that people won’t be allowed to purchase a gun for some time:

“…and as of right now, there is absolutely nothing planned for that to really take place on the 8th. There is no way for information to be electronically transmitted in order for you to obtain this purported card. Therefore, it is possible that it will be several months after August 8 before this is ever put into action.
There is a significant backlog of people who want to acquire firearms but are waiting on their background checks at the moment:

“I believe there are approximately 20,000 individuals in the queue waiting for background checks, and on December 8th, if you are, like, number three in the queue when the clock strikes midnight, you will have to start over.” You are unable to buy a firearm unless you have both the waiting period and the card.
The initial hearing for the lawsuit that challenges the initiative is scheduled to take place in court tomorrow, December 2nd.
