Brown Commands: On Tuesday, Governor Kate Brown issued an order that all flags in the state of Oregon be flown at half-staff in memory of Democratic Representative Donald McEachin of Virginia, who passed away on Monday at the age of 61.

According to information provided by his office, McEachin, who served as a representative for Virginia’s 4th Congressional District, passed away on Monday night following a battle with colorectal cancer.

“I was heartbroken to learn of the death of Congressman Donald McEachin, an advocate for working families, environmental justice, and his constituents in Virginia,” said Governor Brown after learning of McEachin’s passing. McEachin served in the House of Representatives from Virginia. “I am making sure that Dan’s wife, Colette, and the rest of his family are at the forefront of my mind and heart today,” I said.

The proclamation made by President Joe Biden was followed by the announcement of the order made by the governor.
