Bernie Sanders Will Go To Eugene And Portland To Help The Democrats

The Independent Senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders, is the most recent well-known politician to plan a trip to Oregon. Sanders will be there this week.

On Tuesday, the Democratic Party of Oregon made the announcement that Senator Sanders will be traveling to Eugene and Portland on Thursday in order to campaign for local Democrats in advance of the general election in November.

Sanders’ trip will begin with a rally in Eugene at 10 a.m., where he will be joined by gubernatorial candidate Tina Kotek, Sen. Ron Wyden, U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley, Oregon Labor Commissioner Val Hoyle, who is the Democratic nominee for Oregon’s 4th Congressional District, Congressman Peter DeFazio, and former congressional candidate Doyle Canning. Wyden and Merkley are both running for re-election this year.

As of this month, both President Joseph Biden and Senator Elizabeth Warren made trips to Oregon in order to show their support for local Democrats. This comes at a time when the gubernatorial race in Oregon continues to be a statistical dead heat between Democratic candidate Jeff Kotek and Republican candidate Christine Drazan. Additionally, on October 21, outgoing President Barack Obama offered his official support for Kotek in the election.

After the rally in Eugene, Bernie Sanders will head to Portland for a second rally that will begin at 2:00 p.m. In addition, United States Senator Jeff Merkley, United States Congressman Earl Blumenauer, and United States Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici will be there.
