Biden Will Designate Colorado As A National Monument While Visiting The West

Wednesday marks the beginning of Vice President Joe Biden’s tour of the western states. His first stop will be in Colorado, where he will make an announcement regarding the creation of a national monument in a rugged region that was utilised by American soldiers as a training ground during World War II.

During the remaining days of this week, Vice President Biden is scheduled to travel to the states of Colorado, California, and Oregon in order to raise funds for Democratic candidates who are working to prevent the Republicans from gaining control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections on November 8.

According to the White House, Vice President Biden was issuing a proclamation to establish the Camp Hale-Continental Divide National Monument prior to making a stop in Vail, Colorado. This monument would protect a mountainous area that encompasses 53,804 acres (21,770 hectares).

According to the White House, the region was once inhabited by Native Americans and used as a training site for American soldiers serving in the 10th Mountain Division as they prepared for combat in the Italian Alps.

According to an information sheet published by the White House, “This action will honour our nation’s heroes, Indigenous people, and their legacy by safeguarding this Colorado terrain while supporting jobs and America’s outdoor recreation industry.” [citation needed]

Following his time in Vail, Vice President Biden will continue his trip to Santa Monica, California, where he will participate in activities on Thursday and Friday in the greater Los Angeles area. On Friday, he will depart for Portland, which is located in Oregon.

There, he will take part in a volunteer event with the Oregon Democrats that is focused on the grass-roots level. On Saturday, he will serve as the featured speaker at a reception for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tina Kotek.
