Michelle Thomas Death: Michelle Thomas is an American TV and film actress and comedian. She made her debut as Sally Palmer in Dream Date (1989). She is well-known for her roles as Justine Phillips [The Cosby Show (1988-90)] and Myra Monkhouse [Family Matters (1993-98)].

Michelle Doris Thomas was born on September 23, 1968, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Dennis Thomas (father), a musician who played for “Kool & the Gang,” and stage actress Phynjuar Thomas (Mother). She grew up in Montclair, New Jersey. David Thomas is her brother.


Michelle Thomas made her acting debut in ‘The Cosby Show’ at the age of 19 in 1988. She played Justine Phillips, Theodore “Theo” Huxtable’s long-term girlfriend (Malcolm-Jamal Warner). She made her first appearance in the season four episode ‘The Prom,’ and she went on to appear in seven more episodes. In 1989, she appeared as Ruthie Carver in a season one episode of ABC’s short-lived action drama ‘A Man Called Hawk.’

That same year, she appeared in her first and only telefilm, ‘Dream Date,’ directed by Anson Williams. The film, which also stars Tempestt Bledsoe, Clifton Davis, and Kadeem Hardison, is about a father and daughter’s relationship as the latter begins dating.

In 1991, she made her film debut in the coming-of-age comedy-drama ‘Hangin’ with the Homeboys.’ The film, directed by Joseph B. Vasquez, centres on two African-Americans and two Puerto Ricans who must learn to coexist. She appeared alongside Doug E. Doug, Mario Joyner, and John Leguizamo in the film.

Her second and final film, the historical drama ‘Unbowed,’ was released in 1999, about 11 months after her death. In the film, she played Anna and collaborated with Tembi Locke, Jay Tavare, and Chuma Gault. In 1993, Thomas landed the role of Myra Monkhouse in the television series ‘Family Matters.’ The character was first introduced in the fourth season episode “A Thought in the Dark.” Since the beginning, Monkhouse has been a possible love interest for Steve Urkel (Jaleel White).
