Johnson Is Supported For Governor By The Former State Republican Party Chairman

During a campaign visit in Brownsville on Sunday night, Herman Baertschiger Jr., a former chairman of the Oregon Republican Party and a former leader of the Republican caucus in the Oregon State Senate, gave Betsy Johnson his endorsement as an independent candidate for governor.

“I know all three of the candidates for Governor, and Betsy’s the only one with the guts to stand her own against the radical left,” said Baertschiger, who is now a Josephine County Commissioner. According to Baertschiger, “someone who can work with both parties is going to be required in order to shift the path that Oregon is headed in.” I have no doubt that Betsy is capable of completing the assignment.

According to a press statement issued by Bridget Barton, who serves as the Statewide Chair of Republicans for Betsy, Baertschiger is the most recent in a line of prominent Republicans to abandon their party’s nominee, Christine Drazan, and instead, lend their support to Johnson.
