The iPhone 14 Pro Max is supposed to be the best, most costly, and most fascinating of the four speculated handsets.
There’s a lot to be excited about, including a new design, no-notch, and camera advancements. If every rumor is true, the iPhone 14 Pro Max could be Apple’s most exciting upgrade in years.
Below, we’ll discuss this superphone’s release date and price. Check back for updates on Pro Max.
What Will Be the iPhone 14 Pro Max Date and Price?
Our best prediction is September 13 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the rest of the series. A leaker gave us that date, not us.
So far only one source has, so we’d take it with a pinch of salt, but September 13 would make sense, given Apple has historically unveiled new numbered iPhones in September, and usually on a Tuesday, which September 13 is.
Lockdowns in China may have delayed production, thus those dates may be off. Apple hopes to get back on track.
According to a source, the iPhone 14 Pro Max could cost $1199 / £1149 / AU$1,999, a little bit costlier than iPhone 13 range.
Another source suggests the phone will start at $1,199 (£955 / AU$1,665), $100 (£80 / AU140) higher than the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Given the promised upgrades, a price increase is believable, and we’ve heard it twice.
What will be the design of the iPhone 14 Pro Max?
Apple may remove the notch from the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Several sources, like the render below, have told us this since September.
This image shows a camera cutout in place of the notch, like many Android phones. The phone is thicker to reduce the rear camera bump.
The frame is titanium instead of stainless steel, according to the source, which we’ve heard before.
Jon Prosser leaked that the iPhone 14 Pro Max won’t have a notch, but other high-profile leakers have since confirmed it.
A number of sources now say the iPhone 14 Pro Max will have two camera cut-outs – a small punch-hole one and a larger pill-shaped one next to it. See a leaked schematic and CAD renders below.
One of those renders also depicts a massive camera bulge on the back, which may be more true as a leaked schematic implies the rear camera block will be bigger than on the iPhone 13 Pro Max — not smaller than the initial leak said.
How Will the Screen of 14 Pro Max Be?
Ross Young, a reliable leaker, claims the iPhone 14 Pro Max will have a 6.68-inch 1284 x 2778 OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 458 pixels per inch. Those specs match the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s screen.
Ming-Chi Kuo says the forthcoming phone would have a 6.7-inch screen, and we wouldn’t expect Apple to change it.
Some display specifics, including brightness, may change, but thus far it sounds like the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Except there won’t be a notch this time.
How will the camera of 14 Pro Max be?
The iPhone 14 Pro Max’s camera will supposedly be upgraded from 12MP to 48MP. This is according to respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has made the allegation multiple times.
This camera will be “the greatest on a smartphone if there’s enough light,” but it’s currently a step down in low light.
This camera would record 8K video (up from 4K on the iPhone 13 Pro Max) and be accompanied by two others. These two may be the same as before, a 12MP ultrawide and a 12MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom.
A 5x optical zoom periscope camera has been rumored, but it won’t arrive until the iPhone 15 range next year.
What Will Be the Specification of 14 Pro Max?
The iPhone 14 Pro Max will use an A16 Bionic chipset, which is expected considering the current model has an A15 Bionic.
This new chipset’s upgrade potential is unclear. Some sources say it could be produced on a 4nm or 3nm process, down from 5nm for the A15 Bionic, but the latest leak suggests it will stay at 5nm.
Smaller numbers are better, and a move to a smaller number would normally boost power and/or efficiency, but even at 5nm, it’ll see improvements.
Depending on who you ask, RAM might be 6GB or 8GB. The 6GB claim has been repeated, so it seems likely.
Even if the iPhone 13 Pro Max sticks with 6GB, it could still be an upgrade, as LPDDR5 RAM is quicker and more energy efficient than LPDDR4X RAM.
Storage could reach 2TB. That’s double what the iPhone 13 Pro Max has, however, we’ve heard it will be 1TB again.
An eSIM could replace a conventional SIM, although it’s less likely. Current iPhones have both, and if Apple makes this change, the iPhone 14 Pro Max will undoubtedly also support traditional SIM cards, given not all cell networks use eSIMs.
How Will the 14 Pro Max Battery Be?
One source says the iPhone 14 Pro Max could have a bigger battery. The iPhone 13 Pro Max already has great battery life, so this is a promising claim.
