Hillsboro: District 4-4A Div. II Preview (Latest News)

For a third consecutive two-year cycle, Hillsboro’s district virtually remains unchanged. Benbrook is added by the loop to a list that already includes Glen Rose, Hillsboro, Ferris, Godley, and Venus as of 2018.

The top of 4-4A DII is also not expected to move substantially, according to the forecast. Glen Rose has won 25 straight district contests dating back to the beginning of 2016. The Tigers’ team, who won 10 games, got to the regional stage before losing by two points to powerhouse Pleasant Grove, returns 10 offensive and 7 defensive starters.

In 2021, Hillsboro had a strong senior class that competed with Glen Rose for the district championship. Finally, Hillsboro was defeated by the Tigers in overtime, 28-21. By defeating Ferris by a score of touchdowns, the Eagles came in second.

Benbrook is a wild card because it has more students than any other school in the district. On their road to a 6-5 record and a playoff appearance last season, the Bobcats roughed up Fort Worth ISD schools. However, Benbrook was defeated by Midlothian Heritage 49–20 in the first round of the 4A DI bracket.

Austin Cook, a junior quarterback, was given control of Hillsboro’s offense for the upcoming 2021 season. Cook, unfortunately, suffered a season-ending injury before mid-September, which was bad news for the Eagles.

Cook plans to try again this fall in the hopes of achieving greater, longer-lasting results. Because of his aggression and athleticism, Hillsboro residents alternatively refer to the 6-2 quarterback as the Predator and the Terminator. Almuete claimed that only a select few players are more aggressive with the ball in their hands.

For the upcoming 2021 season, junior quarterback Austin Cook will be in charge of Hillsboro’s offense. Unfortunately, cook

Tory Brooks and Ezrian Emory, who join Cook in the backfield, are two running backs for Hillsboro who have the potential to be effective.

Levi Alvarado, an Eagles lineman, is the finest returner up front. He is among the top 10% of the Hillsboro senior class and is of average height, with a depth of knowledge and intelligence that is far above normal.

It will take the offense longer to develop than the defense.

DeAndre Sanders, one of the Eagles’ top defensive playmakers a year ago with eight interceptions, has experienced injury problems ever since basketball season. Emory and Leo Lopez, two linebackers who are smaller than average, have Almuete’s trust.

The Eagles finally enjoyed a successful season in 2021 after more than 15 years of trying. The underclassmen picking up on how it was done is what the Hillsboro coaches are relying on.
