Black Adam Release Date Status: Will Black Adam Be a Hero or Villain?

Black Adam Release Date: Even though it’s been a while, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s debut in the DCEU is finally on schedule to hit theatres. A sequel to the 2019 film Shazam!, Black Adam stars the wrestling superstar and actor as the title antihero.

The film has been in development since the early 2000s, and it will soon hit theatres. Wizard Shazam’s first defender was Black Adam, a being of power on par with Superman.

In contrast to Zachary Levi’s noble character, Adam’s morality tends to be more… malleable. In Black Adam, we shall learn about the hero’s release from a mystical dungeon and his subsequent struggles to readjust to life in the real world.

What kind of awful vengeance he has planned for the planet is anyone’s guess.

Jaume Collet-Serra, who helmed Johnson in his latest Disney film, Jungle Cruise, also helms Black Adam.

The screenplay was written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani. In addition to Adam, the film will also star several other fan-favorite members of the Justice Society of America, making it a must-see for everyone who likes DC Comics.

Here, we’ve compiled all the information we have about Black Adam, from the film’s plot and cast to the latest developments in its production and anticipated release date, to get you pumped for the upcoming DCEU film.

Trailer for “Black Adam”

After countless teasers and trailers, on June 8, 2022, the first official trailer for Black Adam hit the web, giving us our first genuine good look at the film.

The Justice Society of America is depicted in the film as having to deal with the titular character when he is awoken from a 5,000-year sleep.

Hawkman tells Black Adam that “Heroes don’t kill people,” to which Black Adam replies, “Well I do.” The trailer did not fail to live up to expectations, what with its abundance of superhero action, sense of humor, a cheeky homage to the first Iron Man movie, and The Rock being The Rock (as Black Adam).

When Is Black Adam Release Date?

The release date for the American debut of Black Adam is set for October 21, 2022. The film’s original release date of December 22, 2021, was scrapped after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film’s initial release date was July 22, 2022, however, it was later moved back to July 29, 2022.

A Cast List for “Black Adam”

In addition to Dwayne Johnson, Black Adam stars Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan as well-known DC Comics characters.

Roles for the remaining cast members, such as Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer, and Uli Latukefu, have not been disclosed at this time.

Despite Black Adam’s connections to Shazam!, neither Levi nor Asher Angel will be reprising their Shazam! or Billy Batson roles.

That’s for the best, too, because it seems like there will be many more than the usual number of superheroes in the picture.

Who Are the Confirmed Characters in Black Adam?

It goes without saying that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam is the film’s central protagonist. Adam is a courageous and inherently heroic individual, despite having been born a slave in the nation of Kahndaq and given the name Teth-Adam.

Even though he means well, he is a cold-blooded warrior who will kill anybody who stands in his way.

Shahi plays both Adam and Adrianna Tomaz, a professor and resistance fighter in Kahndaq, in the upcoming film. Adrianna becomes the superhero Isis and marries Black Adam in the comics.

She is the one who restrains Adam’s rage and encourages him to take heroic actions. We’ll have to wait and see if the movie follows the same story beats for the character.

The Justice Society of America, the forerunners of the Justice League, will also make an appearance in Black Adam. However, while the Justice Society of America has featured a large cast of characters in the comics (including Adam), only a select few will be featured in the film.

Centineo plays Atom Smasher, a member of the JSA who can alter his physical dimensions and mass.

In Season 2 of The Flash, Adam Copeland portrayed this role.

Hodge will make a cameo as Hawkman. Hawkman, leader of the Justice Society of America, is the reincarnation of a ruler from ancient Egypt.

This time around, he’s an explorer who flies with the help of Nth metal wings. The superhero Hawkman has been featured in comic books, cartoons, and even movies. Michael Shanks performed the role in the Smallville TV series, while Falk Hentschel does so in the Arrowverse TV series on The CW.

To play the role of Cyclone, Swindell joins the JSA. That’s because she’s the grandchild of the original Red Tornado. Cyclones may manipulate air currents and noise levels. She was supposed to be replaced by Hawkgirl, but she was ultimately cut from the film.

Kent Nelson/Doctor Fate, played by Pierce Brosnan, rounds out the movie’s Justice Society of America cast. In order to protect the planet from the forces of chaos, Nelson, the son of an archaeologist, was selected by the Helmet of Fate to become a mystical superhero.

In case you were wondering, no, Doctor Fate is not a copy of Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange; he debuted 23 years earlier. The role of Superman has been performed by Brent Stait (Smallville) and other voice actors (in animation and video game form) from DC Comics.

There will also be a criminal organization with a catchy name like “Intergang” included in the film. Bodhi Sabongui is also said to be cast as a major character from the Black Adam comics, although it remains a mystery.

When will production begin on Black Adam?

Set in Atlanta, Georgia, principal photography for Black Adam kicked off in April of that year. Filming for the movie was supposed to begin in July of 2020 but was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

On July 15, 2021, Johnson announced that he had finished filming his scenes and that production had officially wrapped. After Johnson left, the movie was still partially shot in Los Angeles for a while longer.

The news was confirmed on July 25 by executive producer Dany Garcia, who said, “We haven’t wrapped yet, so we still have a few more weeks.” Dwayne is wrapped up, so I guess that’s a wrap, too. Adam the Black bundled up.

But we have a lot of great things happening right now, and they’re all set to keep going after we move to Los Angeles.”

When do we expect to see Black Adam?

Fans anticipate that Black Adam will take place in the present day. Since this is essentially a sequel to Shazam!, it is safe to assume that the events of this film will take place after those of the first.

It’s conceivable that some scenes will take place 5,000 years ago, during Kahndaq’s golden age. With the exception of a few historical references, Black Adam will focus on the character in the present day.

The Life of Black Adam: What Happened?

There was an oppressive nation called Kahndaq during Adam’s time that used magic and sorcery to enslave some of its people. Once Adam had attained the status of Champion, however, he freed his people and established himself as King of Kahndaq.

After the deaths of his loved ones, Adam fell from grace and unwittingly let loose the demons who would later be known as the Seven Deadly Sins. Black Adam will witness his release from exile after 5000 years, at which point he will set out to restore Kahndaq to its former splendor before being imprisoned for his crimes.

Connections between the film and Shazam! are still unknown. However, the Wizard’s demise may be the key that unlocks the prison door for Adam.

Although the film’s plot has not been revealed as yet, we may expect to see Black Adam restore his dominion. Because of this, the Justice Society of America might decide to fight against Adam. If these stories follow the norm, the heroes will eventually come together to face a greater evil.

Will There Be More Black Adam Movies?

No sequels have been announced, although DC has great plans for Black Adam in the DCEU. According to Johnson’s explanation in 2017, a future film will pit Adam against Shazam.

So we came up with a plan where Black Adam gets his own movie and Shazam, the adult version of the superhero gets his own movie “According to what he had to say. “That’s how we’re constructing our world, and maybe one day we’ll all be a part of it.”

Actor Henry Cavill, who portrays Superman, hinted at the possibility of a crossover between Black Adam and his character at some point in the future of the DC Extended Universe. It “there is clearly some form of work towards that” was his precise words.

It’s possible that the movie Black Adam vs. Superman: Dawn of Capes will never be made. Despite the lack of an official announcement, it is safe to assume that the character will play a significant role in future DCEU projects.

In recent issues of comic books, Black Adam has experienced a renaissance, to the point where he is now a prominent member of the Justice League.

Thus, it appears that DC is planning for the character to play a significant role in the next years. The success or failure of the film will determine whether or not a sequel to Black Adam is made.
