A representative for Anne Heche informed on Thursday evening that the actress is “not expected to survive” as she is still in a coma following “serious” brain damage that she sustained.

The representative also mentioned that Heche’s lifelong goal was to become an organ donor, and that “she is being maintained on life support in order to assess if any are viable.”

Continuing from the previous paragraph, the statement said, “We want to thank everyone for their good wishes and prayers for Anne’s recovery and thank the committed staff and amazing nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital.”

The representative also stated, “Anne’s generous nature left an impression on everyone she came in contact with due to the size of her heart. More than her great gift, she saw spreading kindness and joy as the work of her life, particularly moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. This was her life’s work. She will be remembered for the brave honesty she displayed and will be sorely missed for the brightness she brought into the world.”

The previous week, Heche, who is 53 years old, was driving a blue Mini Cooper when she initially collided with the garage of an apartment complex in Los Angeles. Soon after that, she caused another accident in Mar Vista by crashing her car into an adjacent house and setting it on fire.

The Los Angeles Police Department stated on Thursday that a blood test “indicated the presence of drugs” in Heche’s system, but that “further testing is required to rule out any chemicals that were supplied at the hospital as part of her medical care.”

According to the agency, an investigation has been opened into whether or not Heche was driving under the influence when the accident occurred.

On Thursday, a representative for Heche stated that the actress had not regained consciousness since the immediate aftermath of the collision.

Heche is a well-known actor who has been in films such as “Donny Brasco,” “Six Days, Seven Nights,” and the new version of “Psycho.”
