Modern Warfare 2 Beta Release Date: Activision has confirmed that PlayStation owners will be the first to access the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 test.

The beta version of Modern Warfare 2 will be made accessible a month before its official release date, October 28.

All gamers on all platforms will have access to the Open Beta, while those who pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2 will have a longer window of time to play the game.

PlayStation customers, however, will get two weekends of beta access, while Xbox and PC players will only get one.

There will be a beta release on the following dates, according to Activision:


  • Early Access – September 16-17
  • Open Beta – September 18-20
  • Open Beta – September 22-23
  • Open Beta – September 24-26

The first weekend of the beta, from September 16-20, will only be available to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users, but the second weekend, from September 22-26, will be open to everyone.

During the second weekend, crossplay will be enabled, allowing players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC to compete against each other regardless of their platform of choice.

Activision claims the test will offer “a full multiplayer experience extending beyond the Core 6v6 experience,” complete with a wide selection of maps and gameplay types.

Participating in the test will get gamers to access a variety of bonuses when Modern Warfare 2 officially releases.
