Stephen Reed Frye Died At 79

Anglo-Irish actor, comedian, director, and writer Stephen John Fry was born on August 24, 1957, in London. During the 1980s, he was best known as one half of the Fry and Laurie comedy duo with Hugh Laurie, who appeared in A Bit of Fry & Laurie (1989โ€“1995) and Jeeves and Wooster (1990โ€“1993), as well as numerous other roles. Alfresco (1983โ€“1984) with Laurie, Emma Thompson, and Robbie Coltrane, and Blackadder (1986โ€“1989) with Rowan Atkinson were other roles he had on television. He has been the head of the mental health charity Mind since 2011.

When Stephen Reed Frye died on May 30, 2022, he was aged 79. His parents, William and Margaret (Chalupa) Frye, welcomed him into the world on September 6, 1942, in Burlington, Iowa. Stephen married Marta Lorber on January 5, 1964. In 2016, she died before him.

From 1961 through 1965, Stephen was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. The United States Department of Labor-Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) employed him from 1973 until 1996. Following his retirement, he worked as a health and safety consultant and truck driver for himself out of his home.

Outdoor activities were a favorite pastime for Stephen, who loved going on hikes and camping trips with friends and family, as well as fishing, boating, hunting, and barbecuing in the backyard with his dog, Skippy. In addition to the Peabody American Legion, he was a member of the Peabody United Methodist Church and served as Commander for a period.

In addition to his parents, Stephen is survived by his two children, Christopher Frye of Hillsboro, Kansas, and Dana and Travis Shaw of Durham; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, Paisley, who was born in 2012. Also, Bill Frye, of Topeka, Kansas, and Barbara Frye, of West Burlington, Iowa, are close family members. Before he passed away, Bonnie Van Engen-McCullip, his sister, predeceased.

Cremation was requested by Stephen’s family. Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody, Kansas, will be the ultimate resting place for Stephen and Marta. At 11:00 a.m. on June 25, 2022, at Peabody United Methodist Church in Peabody, Kansas, there will be a memorial ceremony. Avenue of Flags has been the recipient of a memorial contribution in honor of Stephen (American Legion).
