The Society Season 2 Renewed Or Cancelled?

Netflix has yet to make an official announcement on when the show will return, although Deadline reported on April 2 that it will return at the end of 2020. The community was ecstatic and eagerly anticipating the start of the new season. The decision was reversed on August 21st, 2020, when Netflix announced via Deadline that the show had been canceled.

Why Was The Society Season 2 Cancelled?
As a result of the COVID-19 incident, production was temporarily halted. Actors on set made mention of preparing for their return to work. The COVID scenario, on the other hand, may have driven up production costs, causing Netflix to change its mind.
In a statement to Deadline, Netflix said, “We’ve made the painful choice not to proceed with second seasons of The Society, and I am not okay with this.”
I Am Not Okay With This, The Society, and 21 Laps Entertainment’s I Am Not Okay With This have all been canceled due to COVID’s actions. We are grateful to the show’s creators (Jonathan Entwistle, Christy Hall, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen, and Josh Barry) as well as the writers, casts, and crews who worked tirelessly to make these shows for our members around the world.”
According to Deadline, there was a lot of “uncertainty about production schedules and the balance of the availability of a large ensemble like The Society, coupled with unanticipated budget rises owing to COVID.”

The Society Season 1 Recap
It’s about a group of teens who find themselves in the midst of a sequence of supernatural events. On the day of their planned field trip, they couldn’t get to their destination and chose to return. However, when they returned to their hometown, they discovered that it had been completely deserted. To get through the current situation, they’ll have to figure out what’s going on and make the best of things as they are.
The Society Season 2 Plot
So far, we’ve learned a little more about how The Society’s universe came to be after the first season ended, but there are still some unanswered concerns. Additionally, we saw how the primary group of characters is now working together to make the best of their dreadful position. In the first season, Allie and Will were ousted from their leadership roles after a successful coup was carried out. But even though Lexie is heading the coup, it’s not clear whether or not she’s ready to take up leadership responsibilities.
When it comes to the greater, more pressing issues, there are a plethora of hypotheses to consider. It’s possible that this is a social experiment, or that it’s an alternate reality. Some of these theories, however, are at odds with one another. The solar eclipse occurred at the wrong moment, which lends credence to the other universe’s argument. Coins don’t land on heads and the origin of the fragrance hasn’t been investigated. To be safe, we’ll presume she made something up in regards to the last coin toss.
Scenes depicting a younger generation of children and people who are still alive were also shown. Characters and their connections should continue to grow as we approach Season 2. “The dreadful three” will be a key part of Season 2, according to showrunner Chris Keyser. When persons who are clearly unqualified for office are given the chance to run and win, it raises an interesting—and timely—question about what occurs as a result. “As a result, we have a fair idea of the season 2 arc.”
