Is Johnny Depp In Pirates Of The Caribbean 6? His Career Spoiled After Divorce?

Five years since Johnny Depp’s last outing as Jack Sparrow, and it seems the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise is setting its sails elsewhere. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that two new “Pirates” scripts are now in development, but neither would involve Depp’s Sparrow. Depp received an Oscar nod for “Pirates” episode “Curse of the Black Pearl,” and his latest involvement in the Disney-owned franchise was in 2017’s “Dead Men Tell No Tales.”

“We’re talking to Margot Robbie. We are preparing two Pirates scripts — one with her, one without,” Bruckheimer told The Sunday Times for a franchise update. “[Will Depp be back?] Not at this point. The future has still to be decided.”

Robbie’s female-led pirate adventure picture was revealed in 2020, with executive producer and main star Robbie partnering again with “Birds of Prey” scribe Christina Hodson on the script for “Pirates of the Caribbean 6.”

Depp is now suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million in defamation after she wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post claiming domestic abuse.

On May 2, Depp’s representative, Jack Whigham, testified in court that Depp had been set to get $22.5 million for the next “Pirates” picture, which is currently in litigation. After Heard’s article was published, Disney allegedly chose to “move in a different way.”.

During his trial, Depp expressed his desire to complete the nearly two-decade-long film series in which he has played Captain Jack Sparrow. “My feeling was that these characters should be able to say their final goodbye, as it were,” Depp added. This series had to come to an end at some point, and I felt the characters deserved a proper send-off that left the series on an upbeat note. In my mind, I had no intention of stopping.”

Mads Mikkelsen will replace Johnny Depp in Warner Bros.’ “Fantastic Beasts” trilogy in 2020. Also lambasted distributors for “burying” “Minimata,” Wood’s acclaimed biopic of the same name. Depp said that Holl had “boycotted” him.
