The following blog has huge spoilers from chapter 55 of Boruto Manga. Read ahead at your own discretion! Chapter 53 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations had fans scratching their heads at Naruto and Kuramaβs condition.
With the Baryon Mode stopping abruptly and Kurama not making an appearance in the chapter, fans were anxious if the Nine-Tailed Fox is still alive. Boruto’s chapter 55 concluded the saga of this beloved serial bijuu.
So, Is Kurama Dead?
In Boruto, Kurama’s demise is officially announced in chapter 55. The nine-tailed fox bid Naruto farewell, wishing him good health and long life. From killing Narutoβs βma and paβ to sacrificing his life to save Naruto and the Hidden Leaf village, Kuramaβs character has come a full circle.
It’s a heartbreaking moment for Naruto fans, who’d grown to love Kurama. Kurama had lied to Naruto about the effects of Baryon Mode. It was Kurama’s death, not Naruto’s, that was the cost of employing this power. However, had Kurama communicated this to him, he would have hesitated, or worse, refrained from activating the Baryon mode, which would have put everyoneβs life at risk.
When the tailed beast caught on, he told Naruto a lie. Well, he did not blatantly lie to him. Kurama had mentioned that the price for Baryon mode would either be one or both of their lives. In the end, Kurama had to use the Baryon Mode to defeat Isshiki, draining all of his remaining life power in the process. There was nothing Naruto could do to keep the tailed beast from dying.
While everyone speculated about Kuramaβs likely sacrifice, it was nevertheless a tough pill to swallow.

Is Kurama Dead How’s Naruto Alive?
In most cases, the Jinchuuriki dies along with the bijuu it was carrying. However, as Kurama indicated in his last moments, this does not apply to Naruto.
In Narutoβs case, the chakra of Kurama has simply vanished. He hasn’t been extricated. This Naruto will be in a state of shock for some time and to others, he will look as if he is dead, but in reality, there is no threat to his life.
Because he acquired chakra from Hagoromo Otsuki, Naruto can likely survive the loss of his bijuu, despite the fact that his bijuu has suddenly died.

Will There Be a Rebirth for Kurama?
Time to confront the proverbial ‘elephant in the room’. We know absolutely sure that Kurama is dead. Is there a chance we’ll see him in Boruto again?
We know that chakra is used to construct the Biju. This means that they can also reappear after “dying,” once their chakra has had time to regenerate. The span of time we’re talking about here may be anything from five years to two decades in the future. Kurama warning Naruto that this MAY be their last discussion gives fans hopes that he might be back again soon.
It’s important to remember, though, that Baryon mode is powered by Kurama’s life-force chakra, not the chakra they use, as mentioned by Kurama himself. So it remains to be seen if he is able to reincarnate.
We, on the other hand, hope he returns soon so Himawari can hold a newborn Kurama!

What’s Next After Kurama’s Death?
As we indicated, Kuramaβs death has gutted every Naruto fan. However, what role does it serve in the story? Was nerfing Naruto vital to the plotline?
Actually, we think all of this sits nicely with the present narrative. Borushiki has shattered Sasukeβs Rinne Sharingan. Fighting a Sasuke with no Rinne Sharingan and a Naruto without Kyuubi wonβt be challenging for opponents in the future.
This nerfing of famous characters would pave the way for the younger generation to be more powerful! That so, Kuramaβs death does hit hard. Do you think is it possible to bring him back or is Kishimoto planning anything else? Also, how strong do you think will Naruto be without Kurama?
