What Time Will ‘Cheer’ Season 2 Be on Netflix?

The docuseries on the cheerleading team from Navarro College titled “Cheer” Season 2 is soon coming to Netflix! The first season was a hit, so the creators secretly began filming the sequel in January 2020. However, the filming had to be paused due to the pandemic, and it was resumed in September. But now, as the 2nd season is in its post-production phase, when can we stream all its latest episodes?

Whiteley has high hopes from the second season! According to him, the sequel will reach a broader audience because it tells a true story. The upcoming season will focus on the national championship in which both Navarro College and their rival Trinity Valley Community College will participate. Don’t expect it to be a light watch! Because the creators have themselves admitted that it might get a little emotional. The second season has also talked about the impact of Covid 19 and the criminal charges which were pressed against an ex-team member, Jerry Haris. But how does it affect the plot? The first season even won an Emmy award. Hence the streaming site did not hesitate in renewing it. And we are hoping if the second season also garners the same amount of positive reviews and ratings, we might get a third season. However, several other factors play an important in the renewal. So, let’s not get into it.

When Greg was asked about Cheer Season 2, he replied: “I felt like we went on this incredible ride with two remarkable teams. It was inspiring and heartbreaking and sometimes frustrating, but ultimately moving, to be a part of their lives.”

Release Date

The second season of Cheer premiered on Netflix on 12th January 2022! Yes, the episodes are already out. So, make sure that you don’t miss out. 

The first season had 6 episodes, but the sequel will consist of 9 episodes. With more screen time, you can expect more drama and action. The exciting bit about the second instalment is that all episodes will drop simultaneously. Since it is not following the weekly schedule, you can binge-watch the entire show in one sitting.

Coach Monica Aldama will return in the second season of Cheer. Along with her, the majority of the original cast is coming back to the show. However, this season you’ll get to see many new faces as well. Maddy Brum, Cassadee Dunlap and rookie Gillian Rupert are to name a few!

In the last season, Jerry Harris was charged with criminal charges. The second season will also follow his story as he dismisses them. To be specific, the 5th episode talks about these charges in detail. So, if you get triggered by these topics easily, be careful while watching them.

The official plot synopsis for Cheer Season 2 reads:

“The Emmy-winning breakout sensation is back, and the stakes have never been higher. As Navarro defends its championship crown against a slew of challenges, including their fiercest rivals at Trinity Valley Community College, unexpected events threaten the camaraderie of the team and the season itself.”

So, the second season will pick up from the finale events of the first season of Cheer. However, the team will now have to juggle various things at once. The new fame, Covid-19 and other allegations won’t be an easy ride for them!

The docuseries will feature Jerry Harris, but along with him, the two brothers who brought forward the allegations against him will also star in Cheer Season 2. So, it will be good to hear both sides.
